What is Luz de Arcano?

Luz de Arcano is an iOS app to learn to read tarot —Marseille and Rider-Waite— at your own pace, as a practice you weave into your life and enjoy. You choose your deck and learn each with the same tools; each covers all 78 arcana (22 Major and 56 Minor). It isn't a fortune-telling app: you learn a skill to understand your past, present and future, no rush.

Each card includes light and shadow meanings for multiple life areas (general, love, work, and money), astrological correspondences, visual symbols, name etymology, and a personal mantra for meditation.

The learning system uses spaced repetition (SM-2 algorithm) to optimize memorization, along with adaptive quizzes that adjust difficulty to the user's level. The Fool's Journey is a guided course you take at your own pace, one Major Arcanum a day —no rush—: each day you reveal a card, get a teaching, do a quiz that consolidates what you learned, and write a reflection, with a certificate when you complete it. Inside the course lives the full Hero's Journey myth, letting you experience each arcanum in depth through interactive decisions.

Luz de Arcano is available for free with all 22 Major Arcana, including the complete Fool's Journey. The Premium plan ($4.99/month) unlocks the Minor Arcana, Pair Alchemy, How to Read (five interactive lessons that teach you to give a reading from scratch, with Practice Your Reading, an AI Mentor that critiques your own interpretation Socratically without doing the reading for you), 10 AI Personal Readings per month, and 10 How to Read assists per month. The ORO plan ($7.99/month) includes 30 AI Personal Readings and 30 How to Read assists per month.

Why Marseille and Rider-Waite?

The two most-used decks in the world don't compete — they complete each other. Rider-Waite illustrates every card with a narrative scene, so you read the picture at a glance — which is why it's the easiest to start with. The Tarot de Marseille doesn't illustrate its minors: it makes you read from the numbers, suits, colors and gazes. Learning Rider-Waite gives you intuitive readings from day one; learning Marseille gives you the roots and the depth. The ideal is to know both — and here you can learn the two, at your own pace, with the same tools and separate progress.

Your Luz de Arcano

When you open your deck of cards, remember that you are not consulting an oracle — you are having a conversation with your highest self. Treat the cards with respect, but without fear. They are your allies, your mirrors, and from today onward, your guides in the art of building a reality with purpose.

You are not learning to lay out cards. You are learning to decipher the source code of reality. Every time you open your deck, you are performing an act of freedom that your ancestors had to hide so that it could reach your hands today. If you know how to use it well, the Tarot stops being something you read and becomes something you live.

Enjoy this powerful transformation that the Tarot brings to your life — from now on and forever — with Luz de Arcano.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Tarot de Marseille?
The Tarot de Marseille is a tarot tradition originating in France and Italy with over 500 years of history. It's distinguished by its symbolic iconography and its use for both self-exploration and divination. The deck consists of 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana.
What makes Luz de Arcano different from other tarot apps?
Luz de Arcano teaches both the Tarot de Marseille and the Rider-Waite — you choose your deck and learn each with the same tools, with progress tracked separately. It uses gamified learning techniques like spaced repetition, adaptive quizzes, and an interactive narrative. It's not an automatic reading app — it's designed for you to learn to interpret the cards yourself.
Do I need prior tarot experience?
Not at all. The app is designed for absolute beginners. It starts with the Major Arcana and progresses gradually. The progression system unlocks new cards as you master the previous ones.
What tradition is the content based on?
The content is based on the Marseille tradition of Alejandro Jodorowsky and Philippe Camoin, complemented with astrological correspondences and historical sources of European tarot.
What does the free plan include?
The free plan includes all 22 Major Arcana with complete encyclopedic content, basic quizzes with spaced repetition, the card of the day, the reading journal, the XP progression system, and 2 free Personal Readings.
What does the Premium plan add?
Premium ($4.99/month) unlocks the 56 Minor Arcana, advanced quizzes, the full Hero's Journey myth inside The Fool's Journey course, Pair Alchemy, How to Read with Practice Your Reading (five interactive lessons plus the AI Mentor), 10 AI Personal Readings per month, and 10 How to Read assists per month.
What is the ORO plan?
ORO ($7.99/month) includes everything in Premium with 30 AI Personal Readings and 30 How to Read assists per month for those who want to deepen their practice.
What is How to Read?
How to Read is an interactive five-lesson course (Premium) that teaches you to give a reading from scratch in the Marseille tradition: framing the question, the three-card spread, the law of the gaze, the solution card, and writing your first reading. Its capstone is **Practice Your Reading**: you draw a spread and write your own interpretation, and an AI Mentor critiques it Socratically —affirming what you read well, pointing out what you missed, and asking a guiding question— without ever doing the reading for you. It's the one feature that teaches the real skill of reading, which no quiz can. It uses the same monthly How to Read assist quota (Premium 10/month, ORO 30/month).
What is spaced repetition?
Spaced repetition is a learning technique that shows material at increasing intervals. Cards you struggle with appear more frequently, while those you've mastered are spaced out. This optimizes long-term memory.
Is it available on Android?
Currently Luz de Arcano is only available on iOS (iPhone and iPad). We are working on an Android version. You can join the waitlist to be notified when it becomes available.
What languages is the app available in?
The app is available in Spanish, English, and Italian. The language is automatically selected based on your device settings. Card content uses the original French names from the Tarot de Marseille.
How does Personal Reading work?
Personal Reading lets you upload a photo of a real spread with your physical cards. The app identifies the cards and generates an interpretation based on the Marseille tradition, considering positions and interactions between cards. The Premium plan includes 10 Personal Readings per month and the ORO plan includes 30 per month.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store. You can cancel at any time from Settings > your name > Subscriptions. You'll keep access until the end of the already-paid period.
